A Gold Crown is great for when a tooth has a large cavity or has been treated by a root canal, the structural integrity of that tooth is compromised. A crown may be necessary to save that tooth with the least amount of problems long-term. When discussing the type of crowns available to be placed, there are options to be considered.
A Full-Gold Crown: This is a great option and considered ‘The Gold Standard’ due to longevity and prognosis. The margins that seal the tooth are very thin and protect the crown from leakage and resulting decay. With gold, there very little chance of fracture and the biting surface wears extremely well over time. For areas that are not visible, this is the treatment option of choice.
